Already Have CRA Access?

Grant Marie access to view your MyCRA

You must already be registered for a CRA account. The fastest way to give authorization is online, using My Account — it takes about five minutes. You stay in control the whole time, and you can change or remove the authorization whenever you like.

Marie's RepID — enter this during authorization

TX6TF7N

Enter exactly as shown. Leave GroupID blank unless given one.

canada.ca → My Account → Profile → Authorized representative(s) → Add

1

Sign in to your CRA account

  • Sign in to your CRA account
  • On the "Welcome" page, select your Individual account to access My Account
2

Add an authorized representative

This is the CRA service that lets you name someone to act on your behalf.

  • Select Profile from the left-side menu
  • In the "Authorized representative(s)" section, select Add
  • Read the "Before you begin" information and select Start
  • Enter and confirm the required information
3

Enter Marie's RepID

The RepID links your authorization to Marie specifically.

  • In the Representative information section, enter Marie Phillips' RepID: TX6TF7N
  • Leave the GroupID field blank unless our office has given you one
4

Choose your level of access

You decide how much Marie can see and do — you can change it later.

  • Allow access to information only (level 1) — Marie can access your personal tax information, assessments, and reassessments
  • Allow access to information and to make certain account changes (level 2)
  • Most clients choose level 1 (information only)
5

Review and confirm

A final check before the authorization goes live.

  • Review the details, read and accept the terms, and submit

Prefer to provide information directly?

If you'd rather not authorize online, the CRA offers other ways to give authorization. You can provide Marie with any of the following so she can verify your income and contribution room:

  • •A copy of your most recent Notice of Assessment (showing Line 15000 — net income before adjustments)
  • •Your current RRSP deduction limit and TFSA contribution room (from your CRA account or latest NOA)
  • •Representative to provide tax information — if Marie submits an authorization request in Represent a Client, you provide information from your notice of assessment, from a return processed at least six months ago, then confirm or deny the request in My Account under "Confirm pending authorizations"
  • •Form AUT-01, Authorize a Representative for Offline Access — for offline access only (by phone, mail, fax, and in person). Note that this does not provide online access to your account information, and it must be sent to the appropriate CRA tax centre within six months of the date it is signed

Submitting Form AUT-01? You don't need to send it yourself — our office will fax it to the CRA for you.

How Marie gets her RepID

Marie is registered in the CRA's Represent a Client service, which assigns her the unique RepID shown above. Use that RepID wherever you are asked for it. If you have any trouble, call our office at 905-648-2425 ext. 215.

You can change or remove access anytime

Your representative's access remains until you or they cancel the access, or it expires if an expiry date was included in the authorization request. Leave the expiry date blank when you authorize if you'd like Marie to keep access until you cancel it. To change or remove it, go to the "Authorized representative(s)" section in My Account, select Marie, and view, modify, or delete her authorization.

Register for a CRA Account

Registering for a CRA account allows you to access and change your tax information with the CRA, and you only need to register one time to access your personal, business, and other accounts. Follow these steps to register.

Why It Helps

Why grant your advisor access?

When you authorize Marie Phillips as your representative on your CRA account, she can view the information needed to give you complete, well-rounded financial advice — saving you time and avoiding guesswork.

Accurate income verification (from your NOA)

Marie can confirm your reported income (Line 15000 on your Notice of Assessment / NOA) directly, so your RRSP and TFSA contribution room, income-tested benefits and credits, and your insurance and investment applications are built on verified figures — not estimates or paper chasing.

Up-to-date contribution room

She can review your current RRSP deduction limit and TFSA contribution room, helping you maximize registered savings and avoid costly over-contribution penalties.

Faster, cleaner applications

With tax-return status and assessments on hand, Marie can complete paperwork, insurance applications, and investment documentation more quickly — and flag anything that needs your attention sooner.

You stay in control

Representative access is consent-based and revocable. You choose the level of access, and you can adjust or withdraw it at any time through your CRA account.

Before You Begin

What you need to have ready

During registration, your session will expire after 18 minutes of inactivity, and your progress will not be saved. Gather what you need before you begin.

Your social insurance number (SIN)

If you don't have a SIN, the CRA also accepts a temporary tax number (TTN), an individual tax number (ITN), or a non-resident representative number (NRRN)

Your date of birth

As filed with the CRA

Amounts you reported on your most recent tax return

From your most recent, assessed income tax and benefit return, and your return from within the last 2 years. Use the amounts that you initially reported, even if your return was reassessed and the amounts have changed

At least 1 MFA option

To provide a passcode each time you sign in

Side note: signing in on your mobile device (optional)

You can use the document verification service to verify your identity without waiting for a CRA security code, giving you full and immediate access to your CRA account. Use a mobile device to take a real-time picture of yourself and an accepted government-issued photo identification document. To be eligible, you must be 16 years of age or older, have an accepted government-issued photo identification, and have a mobile device with a working camera. If you are not able to use this service, you can still verify your identity with a CRA security code, which the CRA mails within 10 business days to the physical address it has on file.

Accepted photo ID

  • • Canadian driver's licence
  • • Canadian permanent resident card
  • • Secure Certificate of Indian Status (only those issued as of February 2019 are accepted)
  • • Provincial or territorial photo ID card
  • • Canadian passport
  • • Australian passport
  • • British passport
  • • New Zealand passport

Not accepted

  • • Provincial health cards
  • • Documents that have been reported as lost or stolen
  • • Expired or damaged documents
  • • Photocopies of documents
  • • Pictures of yourself that were not taken in real-time

Three steps to register

Follow these in order — each builds on the last. Need the official CRA instructions? Visit the CRA registration page

2

Enrol in multi-factor authentication (MFA)

Every time you sign in, you must enter a one-time passcode in addition to your password.

  • Third-party authentication app
  • Passcode grid
  • Phone
3

Verify your identity

As an extra security measure, you must verify your identity to complete your registration. This is done to ensure the safety of your tax information.

  • Use the document verification service for full and immediate access — take a real-time picture of yourself and an accepted government-issued photo ID (see the side note above)
  • Or wait for a CRA security code, which the CRA mails within 10 business days to the physical address it has on file
  • Once your identity is verified, you will have full access to your CRA account
